Day 249-Thursday February 26, 2026 – Engine Issues…

Well… the mechanic arrived at 10am — as promised, after being pushed back from 8am 🙄. Boater time, apparently, runs on its own special clock. He stayed until after 5pm, and most of the day was spent deep in detective mode, analyzing what exactly is going on with our temperamental engines.

So far, the verdict: we need two new Racor filter water separators, two new Anderson cross-feed valves, and a new fuel housing unit. All of which now need to be ordered… and we’re crossing every finger and toe that shipping decides to move at record speed. UGH. Nothing says “unexpected adventure” quite like boat parts you didn’t plan on buying.

This marina is absolutely beautiful — the kind of place you’d happily linger if vacation dollars were flowing freely — but it’s definitely a bit steeper than what we planned to spend. Especially now that this repair is shaping up to cost approximately an arm and a leg. (Side note: I still wonder who first decided losing limbs was the proper unit of financial measurement… my dad used that phrase all the time.)

Tomorrow will be a brighter day… because honestly, it has to be. 😄

After the mechanic finally wrapped up, we decided the only logical next step was stiff drinks. Therapy, boating-style. Dinner was leftovers, mostly because neither of us had the energy to do anything more ambitious than reheating food and staring at the water while processing the day.
