Day 250-252 Friday-Sunday February 27- March 1, 2026-Enjoying Marathon while waiting on boat parts.

FRIDAY

Today we rolled out of bed and decided to fully embrace our unexpected extended stay in Marathon. Since we’re here whether we planned it or not, we figured we might as well enjoy it — and honestly, Faro Blanco really is a beautiful place to be “stuck.” Soak-it-in mode officially activated.

We connected with our friends on Winsor Rose, who are currently anchored out in the bay (the same spot we were in before heading to Stock Island). They’ll be settling into a marina for the next month, so we made plans to meet up for lunch at Porky’s Bayside.

Now, you wouldn’t necessarily expect a place called Porky’s to serve sushi… but surprise! Not only was it on the menu — it was delicious. The ladies happily went the sushi route while the guys stayed loyal to the name of the establishment and ordered pork sandwiches. Everyone won. Great food, great atmosphere, and even better company.

It was so nice catching up, though I’m pretty sure we spent a fair amount of time collectively venting about being stuck. It just feels a little ironic that we traveled over 5,000 miles with relatively few issues… and now the last 400 miles are giving us all the drama. Boats like to keep you humble, apparently. Anyway — onward and upward!

The rest of the day turned out to be pretty perfect. We spent a relaxing few hours in the afternoon lounging by the pool before heading back to the boat, feeling grateful for good friends, good food, and making the best of an unplanned pause in paradise.

SATURDAY

Today was delivery day — one visit from Publix and another from Home Depot — which meant we were able to knock a few more chores off the ever-growing boat to-do list before rewarding ourselves with some pool time.

The weather has been sunny and warm, and today the humidity decided to really show off, climbing past 90%. Honestly though, my skin is absolutely loving it! Who needs expensive moisturizers when you’ve got Florida doing the work for free?

SUNDAY

Today we dove into a little boat life reality — tackling laundry and even giving some of the window coverings a much-needed refresh. Not exactly glamorous, but there’s something satisfying about checking a few more chores off the list.

We debated taking the dinghy down and cruising along the shoreline to scout out a tiki bar, or simply heading up to the outside bar right here at the marina. In the end, convenience (and maybe a little laziness) won, and we stayed put.

We shared some mahi tacos, which definitely hit the spot, and then — shocker — found ourselves spending a few more hours by the pool. Oy… one could very easily get used to this lifestyle!
