Day 252-253 Monday & Tuesday March 3 & 4, 2026. Still waiting…

MONDAY

We kicked off the day with a “quick little stroll” to Home Depot…which turned into a solid 3-mile round trip. 💪 It was a breezy 75 degrees, but don’t let that fool you — the humidity was clocking in at a balmy 85%. The sun meant business, but thankfully the wind showed up as our personal cooling system.

Mentally, though? We were in waiting mode. Not exactly the most thrilling state of being. We are eagerly awaiting word on whether our parts have arrived and when someone might actually come fix us up. Jeff has talked to multiple people, multiple times, and has been promised multiple callbacks…which seem to be floating somewhere out there in the Bermuda Triangle of customer service. 🙄

At this point, I’m thinking the only productive thing left to do is…pool time. If we’re stuck waiting, we might as well perfect the art of it. 😉

Tonight a big beautiful 86’ Marlow came in. Where they docked was perfect to block some wind/waves for us. How nice!

TUESDAY

Still no word from the mechanics we’ve been working with since last Thursday. Cue dramatic sigh.

But! The local mechanic stopped by today — progress! He managed to get our port engine running (hallelujah 🙌), but we’re not going anywhere until the fuel filter assembly on the starboard engine gets replaced. Apparently, last week while the other mechanic was “wrenching away,” the bleeder valve snapped off. Not ideal.

We were told the part had been ordered (along with a couple others), yet somehow our calls asking for updates have gone unanswered. The local mechanic was finally able to reach them and discovered that some parts have arrived… but not all. They were planning to come tomorrow to replace what they can — which feels a bit like baking half a cake and calling it done. Might as well wait and do it right!

Then we finally heard that the fuel assembly part — the big one we actually need — isn’t in yet, and they’re not sure when it will be. Awesome. 😬

So now the local mechanic is trying to track one down, and Jeff has turned into a one-man parts procurement department, making calls and chasing leads. UGH! It sounds like this might be one of those elusive, hard-to-find parts that likes to play hide-and-seek.

We’re doing our best to keep smiling through the frustration 😁… but let’s just say we’re very ready to hear those engines purr in unison again!

We treated ourselves to dinner at the restaurant here tonight. It was a good couple hours sitting at the bar visiting with others who took our minds off our engines.

  1. 😝We feel your pain. Been in your shoes and are currently having the same problem getting parts and work done. Just on land with our camper van. You’ve got the right mindset to just enjoy where you are in the places and with the people around you.🙏
