THURSDAY
Late in the afternoon—hallelujah!—the long-awaited part finally arrived. We wasted no time calling the mechanic, and he said he’d be here at 9am sharp tomorrow. Yippee!
The rest of the day was pretty relaxed, mostly spent lounging by the pool and trying not to stare at the engines like anxious parents. We’re cautiously optimistic that this will finally get us moving again on Saturday. We do still have a couple of valves that will need replacing, but the mechanic plans to re-plumb the fuel flow (completely safe) so we can make it back to Jacksonville and finish the repairs there. At this point, just the thought of moving again feels like a small victory. ⛵️
FRIDAY
And miracle of miracles—he showed up at 9am exactly as promised. Imagine that! I can’t help but think we should have cut the other guy loose a little sooner. 🙄
He replaced the much-needed fuel filter housing and re-plumbed the system, and when those engines fired up…wow. They sounded so good. Music to our ears!
Since we could finally run the boat again, we decided to move to a less bouncy slip and hopefully get a decent night’s sleep before heading out in the morning. First stop: the fuel dock to top off the tanks. Then it was off to our new slip.
Getting in there was a little sporty with the wind, but Captain Jeff clearly hasn’t forgotten his docking skills. He slid her right in like a pro.
Now we’re settling in, looking forward to a good night’s sleep and—fingers crossed—getting back underway tomorrow! 🚤✨
